September 29th marked the global launch - and we invite you to join a community of employees making change at work.

For the first time ever, employees across the globe now have a central day where their activities towards a sustainable economy are showcased and amplified.

This will be launched and celebrated for the first time this year by putting employees in the spotlight as a crucial factor in this transformation.

Hundreds of thousands of employees are already active in their organisations in resource groups, green teams, or sustainability committees, to request and support their employers to move ambitiously towards socially and ecologically sustainable, circular, renewable, and regenerative processes and business models.

This is their day to annually champion and showcase what they do, and how their ideas, courage and agency have a role to play in the changes we need.

Launch Event

On September 29th, we heard from the authors of The Green Handprint at Work, Babette Brinkmann and Barbara Kump, plus employees from four countries, as they discussed the role and power that people have in their jobs when it comes to shaping the world they want.

This session explored how you can create a positive “green handprint,” which is the opposite of a carbon footprint, by advocating for systemic climate solutions. ClimateVoice’s Campaign Director, Jennifer Allyn moderated a dynamic conversation with employees who shared their experiences creating change from the inside.

They may touch on any perceivable sphere of corporate action, whether it is general awareness, premises and the workplace periphery, core business processes, products and business models, internal decision making and power structures, or the political and communicative sphere outside of the organization.

Hackathon

How might we scale self-empowerment at the workplace for a better future?

From October 13-16, 2026 we convened a global community of innovators, professionals, and changemakers for an online hackathon where participants designed solutions that empower employees to create positive change from within their workplaces.

Working in diverse teams, participants identified barriers to employee action at work and develop practical solutions—from digital tools and workshops to campaigns, services, games, or creative concepts. Experienced mentors provided support throughout the hackathon to help participants turn their ideas into impact.
