The ADFC “Bicycle-Friendly Employer” certification helps companies introduce and promote bicycle-friendly infrastructure and practices. It supports sustainability, employee health, and employer appeal while helping to reduce costs in the long term. The three-year certification process includes a self-assessment, audit, consultation, and recommendations. Companies select the measures that best suit their needs and, once certified, are featured as positive examples on the official website.

Readers of this book will gain practical insights into addressing green transition challenges related to climate, decarbonisation, biodiversity, and social equity through strategic skills development. The green transition requires more than technical specialists—it demands that every employee, in every role, contributes to organisational transformation. This means developing a broader skill set across the entire workforce and leveraging transferable skills alongside technical competence.

The Foodsaver Buffet is part of our regular lunch offering and gives surplus food a second chance. Instead of going to waste, smaller quantities of dishes and sides – such as vegetables, sauces, meat or fish – are offered as part of the buffet. Guests can mix and match their own meal at a fixed price. This helps reduce food waste while offering greater choice and flexibility.

KLIMAready is a joint project of seven Hamburg clusters, helping organisations actively engage with the opportunities and challenges of climate change — and turn that into concrete action on climate protection and adaptation. “Re – Become a Changemaker” is a quarterly, one-day workshop held at the Vodafone Campus in Düsseldorf for around 25 employees from across different roles and departments, with a particular focus on leadership. Co-created by TeamGreen and The People Network, it fosters courage, community, and a proactive mindset for a regenerative future, combining Theory U, the Regenerative DNA Wheel, and hands-on experiences.

DIVIS builds video systems for freight and warehouse logistics. Components like mainboards, controllers and hard drives used to be scrapped along with their metal server housings at end of life. Since newer, more powerful components often still fit older housings, DIVIS now reuses them instead of discarding them — cutting e-waste and conserving resources.

The Nature Garden at the Schindler Campus in Berlin provides a diverse habitat for wild bees, insects, and small animals. Working together, school students and employees created wildflower beds, a sandarium, a deadwood hedge, and an insect hotel. With additional features such as early-blooming flowers and a bird feeder equipped with a camera, the garden serves as a place for learning, connecting, and exploring biodiversity.

The BNS and RD RPS Green Teams launched a donation drive for Wärmestube Saarbrücken, a local support centre for people in need and those experiencing homelessness. Employees donated blankets, winter clothing, thermos flasks, hygiene products, and other useful items. By giving items in good condition a second life rather than throwing them away, the initiative combined practical support for people in need with a more sustainable use of resources.

The Sustainability Working Group of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Cologne organized the Sustainability Days on July 2–3, 2025, bringing together employees, researchers, and students. The event showcased sustainability initiatives, encouraged networking, and raised awareness of sustainability in healthcare. The program featured more than 20 initiatives, as well as discussions, talks, workshops, information booths, and an exhibition on healthy hospital food.

Since 2020, voluntary sprint teams have been driving sustainability across the LF Group alongside their day-to-day roles. In January 2026, the full-day “Future Building Lab” was held to recognise and strengthen their commitment. Through nature-based stress management, self-care, future-focused activities and practical exercises, the workshop strengthened resilience, self-efficacy, collaboration and the ability to drive sustainable change.

Our Sustainability Team invited employees, managers and the executive team to explore practical ways to make everyday life more sustainable. The workshop covered topics including consumption, food, mobility, housing, the workplace, electronics and leisure, as well as local sustainability initiatives in the Lübeck region. Working in groups, participants developed and shared practical ideas for more sustainable choices.
