Our company, CIMA Beratung + Management GmbH, wants to make our actions more sustainable. The company’s Green Team initiated and implemented a Common Good Economy Compact Balance Sheet for 2022 and 2023. With the planned certification in winter 2025/2026, it is strengthening its commitment to transparency, social responsibility and ecological sustainability.

Corporate Management & Business Models & Strategy
The Outcome
The process increases transparency and credibility by making sustainability measurable and independently audited. It identifies strengths and weaknesses and provides a basis for concrete improvements in processes, products, employee management and environmental management. It also raises employees’ awareness and motivation, strengthens the company’s positioning and supports a long-term sustainability strategy.
The Impact
CIMA has embedded sustainability more firmly in its identity and guidelines. Internal processes were reviewed, with greater consideration given to ecological and social aspects. Measures such as mobility incentives, health packages and location-specific sustainability charters were introduced. Sustainability has evolved from a topic “on the sidelines” into an integral part of the organisational culture.
The Biggest Challenge
The biggest challenge was collecting and structuring all relevant data and translating abstract sustainability goals into concrete, measurable actions. It was also challenging to involve all locations and employees equally and find common ground. The process required persistence in internal coordination with management and data collection, especially during the initial reporting.
The Biggest Learning
The most important learning was that sustainability is an ongoing process, not a one-time project. Every change – large or small – can have an impact when pursued consistently. It also became clear how important participation is: sustainability works best when all employees are involved and can help shape it.
Most Enjoyed
What we enjoyed most was developing new ideas together – from small everyday measures to strategic decisions. Particularly motivating was the strong engagement of our colleagues and the positive feedback when initiatives such as the Mobility Challenge or “Sustainapril” resonated with employees.
