As a company, we have an impact on our natural surroundings. To give nature and biodiversity more space, we are transforming selected green areas on our company grounds into more nature-friendly spaces. Together with NABU, we identified suitable areas and planted them during two planting days. Our apprentices played an active role, gaining hands-on experience while learning more about Sport-Thieme’s environmental goals.

What gave you the courage to start?
The support of our management team and the potential of our many young apprentices.
The Outcome
22 apprentices took part in the planting campaign, transforming 167 m² of company grounds into spaces that support biodiversity.
The Impact
The newly planted areas provide additional habitats for insects, birds, and small animals. Over time, the planting is also expected to improve rainwater retention and absorption.
The Biggest Challenge
The preparations were time-consuming and extensive. Finding suitable planting dates was also challenging, and the weather was very hot on the first planting day.
The Biggest Learning
Our biggest learning was how important good coordination and teamwork are to the success of a project.

What we enjoyed most was planting together and having fun as a team!
