Sustainability Workshops

Over the past year, we held more than 60 sustainability workshops, each lasting 15 minutes, in small groups across our organisation in Austria. The sessions introduced key topics such as CO₂ emissions, our sustainability goals, sustainable product development and energy consumption. Employees could also vote on topics they wanted to explore. The workshops encouraged active participation, open dialogue and practical engagement with sustainability.

The Outcome

The workshops raised awareness of key sustainability topics, including our company’s carbon footprint, product life cycle emissions, our 2030 sustainability targets and the key levers for achieving them. Participants also learned about current efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of our product portfolio, the energy sources used across the organisation, our energy targets and opportunities to increase the share of renewable energy.

The Impact

The workshops brought sustainability to a broad audience across the organisation. Employees at all levels gained a clearer understanding of our sustainability goals and where we want to go. The sessions built knowledge, provided space for questions and sparked further discussions within teams. Most importantly, they made sustainability accessible and engaging, showing that learning about it can also be fun.

The Biggest Challenge

The main challenge was finding time for the sessions, so we integrated them into regular team meetings and occasionally combined two workshops into a 30-minute session. Larger groups were less suitable, as the format relies on active participation. Occasionally, a less engaged participant affected the group dynamic, but this was rare.

The Biggest Learning

Our biggest learning was the value of talking directly with colleagues about sustainability. Topics that may seem self-evident from an office or management perspective are not always as familiar to colleagues on the shop floor. Direct dialogue helps bridge this gap and build a shared understanding across the organisation.

Most Enjoyed

What we enjoyed most was designing the workshops together. The close collaboration between the Production Manager, Marketing Expert and Sustainability Manager brought different perspectives to the table and made the process highly creative. We also enjoyed running the sessions, as they gave us the opportunity to connect with many colleagues and experience the positive atmosphere within the teams.
